SUMMER 2024

Master of the Gild, Mr. Andrew Kenny
with his wife and consort Mrs. Rachel Kenny

MESSAGE FROM THE NEW MASTER

29th June 2024

Fellow Freemen, it is an honour to be elected as Master of the Gild of Freeman of the City of York for the forthcoming year. I was born in York and have lived and worked here all my adult life. I am looking forward, along with my wife Rachel as my consort, to representing the Gild and the City of York.

I would like to thank Sara Giles, the Gild Immediate Past Master, for all she has done over the last year.

The Gild Charity for the forthcoming year is the Wilberforce Trust. This organisation is based in York and has supported people with visual and hearing impairments since 1833. The first fundraising event in aid of the charity will take place on Sunday 4th August, when I will be cycling from the former home of William Wilberforce in Hull to York Minster, following his historic route.

If anyone would like to sponsor me, please go to

We have a varied calendar of events planned and I look forward to meeting you over the next year.

Mr. Andrew Kenny, Master of the Gild

BIG DONATION FOR JESSIE’S FUND

29th June

At the Gild’s AGM on Friday 28th June, retiring Master, Mrs. Sara Giles, had the honour of announcing that last year the gild raised £1000 for Jessie’s Fund, the Gild Charity for 2023/24.

Jessie’s Fund helps children with additional and complex needs or serious illness to communicate by using music. Music can provide a powerful and profound way in which children can express themselves and connect with the world around them.
