Many of our our social events are open to all, but meetings (such as AGM) are generally only open to members of the Gild unless otherwise advertised. If you are not a member and have been made a Freemen of York you can find out more about joining here.

Harry Ward Memorial Talk
We are delighted to welcome Mr John Gibbins who will give a presentation on:
“All roads lead to York. Roman roads and what they brought to Yorkshire.”
You would be most welcome to join us for what promises to be a very interesting evening. A bar will be available and a raffle in aid of the Master of the Gild’s Charity (OCAY). To book a place contact social secretary (details above).

Gild Banquet 2026
The Gild’s 69th Annual Banquet will be held in the beautiful Oak
Room of The Milner Hotel, Station Road, York
on Saturday 21st March 2026.
The evening will commence with a Bucks Fizz reception at 7pm
with the Banquet commencing at 7.30pm.
All members (full, honorary and associate) and their guests
are welcome to apply using the form included in your copy of the Gild News
Tickets will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
Gild Church Service
The day after our Banquet the Gild and Guests process in robes to the Gild Church at All Saints Pavement for our annual service. After the service we again process through the streets of our City to our home at Bedern Hall. The procession is often led by The York Guard (Honorary member of the Gild), which makes a spectacular sight in the City. The service starts at 10:30am and is of course open to any interested to attend.

Gild of Freemen AGM
Open to Gild Members only, our Annual General Meeting at which the Court are elected, a new Master is installed and we welcome our new President.
Freemen and Guilds of York Annual Carol Service
A traditional service of Nine Lessons and Carols, A festive treat attended by representatives of all the Guilds and Companies of the City as well as the Civic Party. All welcome to atend at the Guild Church, All Saints Pavement Church, York at 7pm.
Mince pies and mulled wine (tea or coffee) in the church afterward the service.
